Product details & technical information
Description
SikaLatex is a synthetic rubber emulsion used as an admixture for cementitious bonding bridges and high-quality mortars. It improves adhesion, workability, abrasion resistance and impermeability while helping reduce shrinkage and cracking.
Applications
- Thin-layer patching mortars
- Concrete repair mortars
- Cementitious bonding bridges
- Floor screeds
- Renders
- Abrasion-resistant linings
- Tile-fixing mortars
- Masonry mortars
Benefits
- Increased adhesion
- Reduced shrinkage and cracking
- Increased abrasion resistance
- Reduced permeability
- Improved workability
- Easy to mix and dose
- Suitable for most common construction substrates
- Non-toxic, non-flammable and non-corrosive
Application guidance
Prepare the substrate so it is clean, sound and free from oil, grease, laitance, loose particles and other contaminants. Thoroughly pre-wet absorbent surfaces and remove standing water before application. For a bonding bridge, mix SikaLatex with water to prepare the gauging solution, then combine with cement and sand. Apply the resulting slurry at approximately 1–2 mm thickness to the pre-wetted substrate and place the subsequent mortar, render or screed immediately using a wet-on-wet application. For mortar modification, mix SikaLatex with the correct amount of water to form the gauging solution. Add the cement-sand mixture while mixing until a smooth, uniform and lump-free consistency is achieved. Do not use pure SikaLatex or a SikaLatex-water mixture directly on the substrate as a bonding bridge.
