Description
SikaShield P25 MG EG 4 mm is an APP-modified, torch-applied bituminous waterproofing membrane reinforced with a dimensionally stable non-woven polyester inlay. The upper surface is finished with mineral granules, while the underside has a polyethylene burn-off film for torch application. It can be applied to concrete, metal and wood substrates, including over existing bituminous roofing membranes.
Applications
- Suitable for waterproofing retaining walls and basements, flat roofs under protective layers or ballast, balconies and terraces beneath tiles, wet rooms, underground car parks and raft slabs. It can also be used as the top sheet in a double-layer roofing system.
Benefits
- Provides good watertightness, elongation and cold flexibility, with good tensile, tear and shear properties and good resistance to impact. It is reinforced with non-woven polyester and is installed by torch application.
Application guidance
Apply to a uniform, firm, smooth, clean and dry substrate free from sharp protrusions, grease, oil, dust and loose particles. Prime the prepared dry surface with the appropriate Sika primer where required and allow it to dry. Unroll, align and re-roll the membrane before installation. Provide minimum side overlaps of 80 mm and end overlaps of 150 mm. Heat the substrate and underside of the membrane with a gas burner until the backing film begins to melt, then roll the membrane forward and press firmly to achieve full bonding. A continuous bead of melted bitumen should be visible along the overlaps.
Coverage
Nominal roll area: 10 m². Actual installed coverage is lower after allowing for minimum 80 mm side overlaps, 150 mm end overlaps and site wastage.
