Product details & technical information
Description
Sikafloor-161 is a two-component, low-viscosity epoxy resin designed for use within resin flooring systems. It provides good penetration and excellent bond strength and can be used as a primer, binder for levelling mortars and screeds, bonding bridge, or intermediate layer.
Applications
- Priming concrete substrates, cement screeds and epoxy mortars
- Priming low to medium absorbent substrates
- Primer for Sikafloor-264 flooring systems
- Binder for levelling mortars
- Binder for epoxy mortar screeds
- Intermediate layer beneath compatible Sikafloor systems
- Bonding bridge for epoxy screed and repair mortar applications
Benefits
- Low viscosity
- Good penetration
- Excellent bond strength
- Easy application
- Short waiting times
- Multi-purpose
- Approx. 100% solids by mass and volume
Application guidance
Concrete substrates must be sound and of sufficient compressive strength, with adequate pull-off strength. Surfaces must be clean, dry and free from contaminants such as dirt, oil, grease, coatings, laitance and loose material. Prepare concrete mechanically to remove cement laitance and achieve an open-textured surface. Remove dust and loose material thoroughly before application. Before mixing, mechanically stir Part A. Add all of Part B to Part A and mix continuously for approximately 3 minutes until a uniform mixture is achieved. Where quartz sand or other specified filler is required, add it after Parts A and B have been mixed and continue mixing for approximately 2 minutes. Transfer the mixture into a clean container and mix again to ensure consistency. For primer applications, apply by brush, roller or squeegee, ensuring a continuous pore-free coat. Where necessary, apply two priming coats. Always observe substrate moisture, temperature, relative humidity and dew-point requirements stated in the current Sika Product Data Sheet.
Coverage
Primer: approximately 0.35–0.55 kg/m² per coat, typically 1–2 coats. Consumption for levelling mortars, intermediate layers and epoxy screeds varies according to the system, layer thickness and aggregate ratio.
