Application guidance
Ensure joint surfaces are sound, clean, dry and free from contaminants such as dust, oil, grease, cement laitance and poorly bonded coatings. Design the joint width to accommodate the expected movement and the movement capability of the sealant. Install a suitable closed-cell backing rod where required to control sealant depth and prevent three-sided adhesion. Use the appropriate Sika primer or substrate pre-treatment where required for the specific substrate and application. Apply Sikaflex PRO-3 continuously into the prepared joint using a suitable sealant gun, ensuring full contact with the joint sides and avoiding air entrapment. Tool the sealant firmly against the joint sides for good adhesion and a smooth finish. Follow the current Sika Product Data Sheet for joint dimensions, substrate preparation, primers, application conditions and curing requirements.
Coverage
Consumption depends on joint width and depth. As a guide, a 600 ml pack provides approximately 6 m of a 10 × 10 mm joint, 3 m of a 15 × 12 mm joint, or 2 m of a 20 × 15 mm joint.
