- Industrial areas exposed to chemical spillage
- Remedial repairs to asphalt, concrete and fibre-reinforced cement surfaces
Benefits
- Tough, flexible and elastomeric seal
- Excellent resistance to weathering
- Excellent chemical resistance
- Durable water and weatherproof sealing
- Movement capability of ±25%
- Withstands repeated compression and extension cycles
- Excellent adhesion to common construction materials
- Suitable for both vertical and horizontal joints
- Lead-free curing compounds
Application guidance
All joint surfaces must be clean, dry, sound and free from loose particles and contaminants. Use a closed-cell polyethylene backing rod where required to establish the correct joint depth and prevent three-sided adhesion. Weak joint edges should be repaired before sealant application. Where priming is required, apply Sika Primer-101 according to the manufacturer's instructions and allow it to become tack-free before applying the sealant. Mix and use one complete SikaSeal-470 GG unit at a time. Do not split the components. Add Component B to Component A and mix using a suitable paddle and electric drill at no more than 500 rpm for approximately 5–10 minutes until a smooth, uniform consistency is achieved. Apply using a suitable sealant gun or, where appropriate, by trowel. For vertical joints, begin application from the bottom. Tool the sealant to a smooth finish. The product must be fully cured before permanent water immersion.
Coverage
Approximate yield per litre: 16 m at 10 × 6 mm, 8 m at 15 × 8 mm, 5 m at 20 × 10 mm, 3 m at 25 × 12 mm, or 2 m at 30 × 15 mm joint dimensions. Actual consumption varies with site conditions.
