Product details & technical information
Description
SikaSeal-470 PG is a high-grade, two-component polysulphide joint sealant with a pourable consistency. It forms a flexible, elastomeric and weatherproof seal and is designed for horizontal joints where pronounced cyclical movement and demanding service conditions are expected. 12
Applications
- Horizontal movement and expansion joints
- Reinforced concrete structures
- Bridges
- Reservoirs
- Water treatment works
- Sea walls
- Roads
- Floor joints subject to heavy usage
- Horizontal joints requiring high resistance to damage
- Bolt-hole sealing for compatible expansion-joint systems
Benefits
- Pourable consistency for horizontal joints
- Forms a flexible and elastomeric weatherproof seal
- Movement capability of ±25%
- Good resistance to weathering
- Good chemical resistance
- Resistant to ozone and ultraviolet exposure
- Good adhesion to common construction materials
- Suitable for demanding joints subject to repeated movement
Application guidance
All joint surfaces must be clean, dry and free from loose particles and contaminants. Joint edges must be sound and any weak areas should be repaired before sealant application. Install a closed-cell polyethylene backing rod where required to establish the correct joint depth and prevent three-sided adhesion. For wet-condition joints or where priming is required, use Sika Primer-101 in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and allow it to become tack-free before applying the sealant. Mix and use one complete unit at a time. Do not subdivide the components. Mix the curing agent thoroughly with the base material for approximately 5–10 minutes using a suitable paddle and an electric drill operating at no more than 500 rpm. Once completely mixed, use the material immediately. Pour the mixed SikaSeal-470 PG directly into the prepared horizontal joint. SikaSeal-470 PG must be fully cured before permanent water immersion.
Coverage
Approximate yield per litre: 16 m at 10 × 6 mm, 8 m at 15 × 8 mm, 5 m at 20 × 10 mm, 3 m at 25 × 12 mm, or 2 m at 30 × 15 mm joint dimensions. Actual consumption varies with site conditions.
